Let’s get into the question-and-answer portion of this article…
What Is A Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation is a procedure used to surgically enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breast using breast implants. She may choose this form of surgery for a number of reasons. Some of those reasons are…
… Most commonly, women augment the size of their breasts because they feel that they are too small and disproportionate with the size and shape of their body. This is an excellent way to balance out a woman’s proportions.
… Post-partum involution – a surgical measure taken to reduce a woman’s breast volume after a recent pregnancy.
… Asymmetrical issues due to a difference in breast size.
… A reconstructive measure used to fix a trauma or botched breast surgery.
As you can see, there are a number of reasons to consider breast augmentation procedures. There’s no question that breast size is a factor, but it’s certainly not the only reason to consider this form of augmentation.
Let’s take a look at the next question…
What Are The Risks Related To Breast Augmentation?
This is a great question. And it deserves a great answer.
There’s no reason to beat around the bush. When it comes to surgery, there’s always a measure of risk and uncertainty. There’s just no way around it.
But when it comes to breast augmentation in Northern VA, this is normally a very safe procedure as long as the initial preliminary steps were met with diligence.
Here’s What I Mean…
Dr. Suh will meet with you and go over your complete medical history and ask a series of questions. Patients need to be carefully selected as part of the preliminary steps.
If you are beyond this stage, then a properly clean and equipped surgical facility is also important. You also need a certified plastic surgeon performing the operation. There’s nothing to worry about since you intend to be a patient of Dr. Suh. She meets all necessary requirements, so please put your mind at ease.
Complications will arise with breast implants on occasion. In some instances, they may break open or leak. There are numerous reasons why a rupture may occur. It can be something as simple as an injury to the breast, or movement in an awkward direction causing the puncture.
There’s nothing to worry about if you choose saline breast implants. If one or both were to break open, the salt water will be absorbed harmlessly by your body and the implant(s) would deflate.
What Can You Expect After Surgery?
If you have elected to undergo breast augmentation surgery, you’ll need to meet with Dr. Suh during follow-up visits as part of the procedure.
You’ll also receive early post-op instructions, and you shouldn’t expect to feel too hot immediately after the surgery. You will have swollen breasts and bruising will occur. Pain medication is prescribed to control the discomfort.
If you have committed to breast augmentation, or you would like to speak directly with Dr. Suh, then I recommend calling the office to schedule a one-on-one consultation. Make the appointment at your earliest convenience.
